I remember this song was the first track of a cd given to me and several other students to remember to pray for a group of students who were on a mission trip to Belize several years ago. I had an opportunity myself to go to Belize and really enjoyed my experiences there. Remember today as you go through your day: God is in control. Be blessed.
I really feel like this is my song today. I keep trying and trying to do things and they keep falling apart. I have dreams for what I want to accomplish but it's time for me to let go. I just have to believe that God has my best interest in heart and that he will work things out however they are meant to be.
Recently a fellow classmate of mine from high school created a Facebook group for the class of 1998. As I was looking through some pictures that were posted on there I noticed there are not very many of me on there. It got me to thinking of my life today. Of how I graduating college three years ago and have nothing to show for it. How I'm still single at almost the age of 36. What have I really done with my life? I just have to keep trusting God that he has something special in store for me. My dream and my desire one day is to leave a legacy. May God allow this to happen so I may feel like I have actually made a difference with my life. God bless you all!
As I get ready to go see the dentist to get some teeth pulled I have been feeling very anxious. I googled songs for when you feel anxious and came up with this little gem. It is a really good song about how with God we are overcomers. I hope you enjoy.
As we go about our ways and get busy with so much on our plates let us take just a few minutes to focus on God and to bask in Serenity. Let us remember that his eye is on the sparrow and that he watches over us. Be blessed today family.
I would like to share with you one of my favorite worship songs. May we just focus on God today and feel his power around us. I hope you all have a great and glorious day today!
Recently I had two of my teeth pulled and it was not a fun experience. My mouth is still feeling a little sore and I've been taking over the counter medicine to help it feel better. I was looking for a song for today and came across this gem by a woman named Rachel Belman. I really like it. It talks about how God is our comforter and our ultimate medicine. Let us trust in him today. Be blessed family.
I believe that this song is talking about how we can search and search for things that we believe will make us more happy be it a new relationship, a new job, a new car, whatever it may be but it will never satisfy us. God is the only one who can truly satisfy us and that is done by a relationship with Jesus Christ. So remember that today as you search that what you're searching for has been there with you the whole time. Be blessed.
Love this song by Bryan Duncan. At the end of all the chaos of everyday it is good to know that we can take rest in the arms of God and just give him all your troubles and woes from the day. I pray that you are doing just that.
This song is the next I would like to share on the SM4JC playlist. In it Lauren sings that God takes will take what's wrong and make it right. We just have to stay strong. Be strong today my friends and trust in him.
As we prepare for the hard days ahead during these trying times sometimes I feel like I am on a crusade by myself. Yes I have a couple of friends on here who understand the severity of what is happening and I have a group on Facebook that I am part of but I juest feel like I'm facing this by myself too. But whatever will happen and whatever the future holds I can only think of these four words. Thy Will Be Done. I want that above all else. I pray God's Will will be done in you all today. Pray for his discernment in the days ahead.
I recently discovered this song. I love the sound and feel of it. May all of us who call ourselves Christians remember that we are all way faring strangers. Be blessed today.
Posted two years ago: Ok, I usually don't share two in one day but I really feel in my spirit that I need to share this today. Just listen to the words and the beat of the drums and worship our Lord!
Post from two years ago: I am still sick even after taking NyQuil and getting eight hours of sleep. Work has been rough most of the week and still have today and tomorrow left. What I could really use right now is some peace. I know the only place I will find that peace is in Christ though. That is why I am sharing this song today. It is my prayer for us all. Amen.
Number 18 in volume 3 is Do Something by Matthew West. This is a great song about how we should take a stand and do something. We ask God for blessings but we can be blessings to others. Be blessed today friends.
Track 19 on volume 3 of the SM4JC playlist is "I Believe" by ZOEgirl. I've noticed that there are some really good messages and sounds in some of these older songs. There is nothing wrong with the newer contemporary Christian songs but I also enjoy these older tunes from artists like ZOEgirl, Rich Mullens and DC Talk. I hope you enjoy it as well.
It only seems fit to end volume 3 of SM4JC playlist with this song by DC Talk. What will people thing when they label me a Jesus Freak? Some may call me crazy but it is only because of my love for the truth and my love for Jesus. Have a great rest of the day and look for my bonus track in the early morning.
Bonus track for volume 3 of SM4JC as promised. I try to pick for these bonus tracks songs by bands that aren't considered Christian bands but that could have a powerful message. Has some of you may or may not have heard there is an asteroid that has (had) a collision course for Earth. Supposedly NASA has sent rockets into space and neutralized the threat or at least some believe that they have. Still this can pose the question asked by nickleback: if today was your last day, what would you do? We need to live everyday as if Jesus was coming back because he will be back soon. Much sooner I believe than most think. Be blessed today family and be careful out there. I love you all.
1. Because Of Who You Are - Martha Munizzi Thanks to a close friend of mine Alicia years ago I was introduced to the music of Martha Munizzi. She is a wonderful female performance and this song really speaks to me. Enjoy!
A few years ago I traveled with a group from the ABS to a church in New Caney. We sang this song at that church and it really resonates with me. I really enjoy it.
This song has always held a special place in my heart but never so much as a couple of weeks ago as I got to witness three men whom I have grown close to as their teacher graduate from Christian men's job corps. Now this song is even more special. Also I got to see this band live years ago before I even realized who they were at a worship event that used to take place at first Baptist church in Nacogdoches called Great Escape. They are really awesome God led band.
This song has been such a blessing. Over the years. I first heard/sang this song through the yellow house (church of Christ student center) at SFASU in Nacogdoches. I could have shared a version sung by Mercy Me but I am trying to make the limit to one song per artist on the list. Plus there is just something about the acapella version of this song, especially when sung by a choir. It was one of if not the most uplifting song I remember singing at the yellow house. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.
Years ago a coworker of mine had this song as her ringtone. I really liked the song and it speaks the truth. I never would have made it without God. Enjoy!
This song has a different sound to it but I really enjoy it. I first heard of this song through a friend of mine named Jeremy through the Yellow House. He gave me a CD with a few of their songs on it and I liked it. I hope you enjoy it as well.
This is such a powerful worship song. He is the air that we breathe. He is out everything. Just close your eyes and focus on the words as you listen to todays song. God bless!
I discovered this song a few months back while listening to Pandora Radio. I really like the message. We have to keep it 100 with Jesus in our walk. Does that mean we are going to be perfect? By no means, but when we do make a mistake admit it to God. Tell him you're sorry and will try your best to not make the same mistake again. Enjoy!
My sister and I went and saw this wonderful woman of God live in concert over ten years ago. In case you didn't know Ginny Owens is a blind Christian Artist. Her music and message has touched many. If you have a chance Google Ginny's Story on A Night In Rockettown CD. I really enjoy this song and it's message. We should all want to be moved. Enjoy!
So many times we focus on getting the next thing, as Rich Mullens would say everybody says they need just one thing when what they really mean is they need just one thing more. But the Bible tells us that where we store up our treasures there our heart is. I'm guilty of it too trust me. Today's song shares with us that as Christians the only thing we need we already have. Remember that today as you go about your business. God bless.
I have heard this song many times over the last several years and it really embodies the message of the ministry. Be we Methodists, baptist, Pentecostal, church of Christ, Assembly of God, or whatever denomination we want to claim we are all Christians and called to live one another if you are a believer. We are first and foremost Christians. I was listening to a sermon by the man who used to be the full time pastor years ago at Woodland Christian church and he was talking about a seminar he had went to where Max Lucado was speaking. Max asked everyone on the count of three to yell out what denomination or church they belonged to and when they did it sounded like a loud mess, you couldn't understand anything anybody said. Then on the count of three Max said for everyone to yell out the name of whom they followed, the name of whom died for their sins. Well on the count of three there was an amazing boom of the name of Jesus. Let us not forget that. We all serve the same king. God bless you all and remember we are all one in the spirit and in the love.
For a few years now I have known about a podcast called the Daily Audio Bible. I tried years ago to listen to it but got distracted a few months in. This year I have been able to be faithful to stay caught up and am hoping to make it all the way through. This is a podcast that if you listen for a full year will take you through the entire Bible. You can find more information at www.dailyaudiobible.com. Anyways the singer of this song today is Jill Parr who is Brian Harden's wife. Brian Harden is the creator and reader of the Daily Audio Bible podcast. This is the third album that Jill has released and the first in ten years. Today is the release of her album. I have heard this song before and it is very moving. He is a good good father. Even when we struggle he cares for us. I thought it only appropriate to share this song today as today is the release of the album. Enjoy!
And if you can please check out Jill's complete album. You can find it on iTunes or Spotify or wherever you get your music from. I personally am listening to it on Deezer.
My friend Thomas shared this song and I really feel that it should be shared here as well. My sister got to see this band perform years ago and they really have a powerful message. This song talks about how we may face troubles and hardships but it doesn't matter as much as the fact that we are redeemed. Enjoy!
This is a wonderful worship song. Better is one day in God's courts than thousands elsewhere. God will always provide for us although it may not always happen in the way we thought it would. Blessings on you.
This has always been one of my favorite Woship songs. It really helps you to focus on God and forget the troubles of this world if only for a short while. Enjoy!
(Originally written at 4 A.M.) Good morning. Yes I am awake by this time every morning. These are the hours I work. I used to joke when I would have to be up early early like this that I was waking up before a God but that's not true. God is always awake and watching over his children. Let us worship him today and sing "blessed be your name". Have a great day!
When I think about Chris Rice, the first song I think about is "Cartoons". If you have a chance I suggest you google it. That was the song I was going to share as number 19 but then I listened to this song and felt lead to share it instead. It has a great message and sound to it. I hope you enjoy "Untitled Hymn: Come To Jesus" as much as I do.
For the last track of volume 2 of the SM4JC playlist I leave you with "Shine" from the newsboys. May you all shine before God and before all your fellow people. Have a great day!
I would like to share this song by a popular secular group Aerosmith as the bonus track of volume 2 of the SM4JC playlist. I remember singing a similar version at the yellow house years ago with Robby leading it and it was always a fun time. Enjoy!
Few things can affect ones moods and emotions like music. They can turn you from sad to happy and vice versa. They can help you to focus as well. To this affect for the next several days I would like to share with you my playlist of my music that I listen to be encouraged in the Lord. I will share a little also of why the song means so much to me. Let's begin.
I start with Rich Mullins - Sing Your Praise To The Lord. I first heard this song back in 1999 when I attended Panola Jr College. It was often played over the sound system while lunch was being prepared and I feel in love with it. It wasn't until years later that I discovered that Rich Mullins had passed away. Now when I hear the song it helps bring my focus onto God and helps me to reminisce and remember my days at Panola. I hope you enjoy as much as I do.
This is another older song. I first discovered it while listening to songs on the world of worship CDs. This song means a lot to me as my job can tend to be rough where I work, especially when I first started out almost ten years ago. It was hard physical labor. This song has a sort of James Bond feel to it (remarkably enough I have never actually watched any of the James Bond movies). When I listen to this song it helps me get pumped to enter the work place and my field that God has given.
This is by far one of my favorite Christian groups of not my absolute favorite. I was blessed enough to see them in concert years ago and it was awesome. One reason that this song means so much to me is that I have definitely faced storms in my life and just have to be reminded that God is God in the good times and the bad. Going through my divorce years ago, during the times where I had no job, during the times when I was out of school and unsure if I would be able to return....God was there. Take a listen. God bless you all!
While this song is sung by a secular artist, she just happens to be my favorite singer of all time. Period. This song has meant so much over the years for me as I long to fly like a bird and soar above my sorrows and problems of everyday life. As is said in the song with is taken from Psalm 30:5: "Weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning". May we be patient and endure strong until our time of deliverance. God bless and enjoy!
If I had to pick any one song to be the theme of the ministry this would be that song. This to me represents what it is all about. Why do I continue day by day through the struggles? Why do I strive to help others when I can? Who do I strive to get closer to and build a relationship with? His name is Jesus! And he is the King of Glory! Be blessed family!
Originally there were two songs saved as number 6 in this playlist. God laid on my heart that I should remove or cut one of the songs from the playlist. The song removed was "The Game Is Raw" by Dooney Da Priest. How poetic is is then that this song is named "Cut". Sometimes God has to cut some things out of our lives to make room for better things. The things cut may not even be bad things but he has something better in mind for us. One part of this song claims "I am not alone". How true is this! Even when we feel alone we are never truly alone if we have God in our hearts. So please enjoy.
This is a great mix of songs that Amy sings. In the beginning of creating this list years ago this was the last song on the list. At the end of the medley is the song "sing your praise to the Lord" which you may remember as number one from Rich Mullens. God has since given me more songs for the playlist. I hope you enjoy.
The first time I heard this song was sung by the wife of pastor Brent Crosswhite of Apostolic Pentecostal church in Nacogdoches. I would much rather had the one of her singing then the one I have here but have not been able to get a copy of her singing.
This version is cool as well as it has a kids bop type sound to it. I hope you enjoy!
This is a song about the devil. It is my privilege to know these two ladies personally. We went to panola junior college together. I have recently discovered that they are still in the Christian music business. You can Google Wrightous productions I believe to see more. Anyways this song is about how the devil is sneaky and constantly after us and we have to be on our guard. Enjoy!
Years ago I watched a skit with this song in it. This is one of the more meaningful songs in my playlist. It is about making God our everything and not trying to fill the void with other stuff. If you wish to see the skit just search Lifehouse everything original skit on YouTube. Thanks and God bless.
One of my favorite Christian bands is a band called ApologetiX. They are a Christian parody band. Think Weird Al Yancovich with a Christian message. The song I am sharing with you today is not by ApoligetiX but the message it sends is that it is ok to listen to this music. I believe any music can be good to listen to, just the lyrics aren't always good. I know this can be a topic of controversy and I am not trying to stir that up. I just know myself I love music in general of all sorts and love that we can use Christian Rock etc to focus on God and receive and spread his word.
It was my pleasure to get to listen to this group perform live at SFA years ago. This is a Christian gospel rock rap group out of Dallas Tx. The reason I like this song so much is that it feels like an army let's get ready to go into action type of song. Listen to it and tell me it doesn't get you pumped. (Well maybe if you're not a fan of rap music, but even then it's good). Enjoy!
This song has meant so much to me in times where I have felt lonely. There are times when I have felt that nobody really cares. I mean I have my family and my friends but not that special love in my life. I have searched and searched and this song speaks to me. God is speaking to me: what are you looking for? God is the love I need. We can't rely on anyone else to make us happy and love us like God can.
Three years ago at this time, I was doing my internship at the mosaic center (Christian women's job corps) in Lufkin. At a banquet fundraiser that they had before graduation I was asked to help to set up and help run the projector for the video played. The video was a variation of this video by Gungor. I decided to share this original video becsue I have watched it several times and it really speaks to me. A friend of mine at Woodland Christian church before he moved away once told me: God doesn't make any junk. This has been such a hard message for me to receiver because of my low self esteem but it is so true. God made me beautiful. God made you beautiful. Let us never forget that.
This is one of the newest songs I have felt lead to add to the playlist. Funny because for the longest time it was accidentally mixed in with my mashups. I really like the sound of this song as well as the message. You can hear the desperation in the artist voice. I sometimes feel just as desperate.
This song is an older one but it definitely has some truth to it. It is another more recent one I have felt lead to add to the list. No matter who you are, you're gonna have to serve somebody.
I want to share another song which was recently added to the playlist. This song is from the view point of a non believer after he has died and gone to Hell. It is a reminder that we need to trust in God and keep him first. Enjoy!
Years ago there was a group called Men of God which had a Bible Study out of the Yellow House (Church of Christ student center). From this group I discovered a musical group called the Channel (also known as the Red Ink Army). Also featured in this song is a man named Drew Wilson. Drew has been a close friend of mine for years. He used to attend the Association of baptist students with me and was also a DJ at KSWP Christian radio for years. I believe this is a good song to end volume on as it is a call to battle.
This song means so much to me because I have wronged people in the past, especially my immediate past. To these people I am sorry and I wish I could take back the pain I caused. As the song says "if I only could make a deal with God, I would get him to swap our places." I would gladly take the pain upon myself so that you wouldn't have to suffer it anymore. God bless you all.
